Job completed for Hot Water Heater Leak

In Scotch Plains, New Jersey, a resident of a rental home experienced a hot water heater leak in their partially finished basement. The leak had been occurring for a few days, and a strong microbial smell began to develop in the home. The tenant was in the hospital at the time of the leak and needed a clean home to return to upon release. The concrete, paneling, carpet, padding, and wood framing materials throughout 5 rooms were damaged from the water. Additionally, some of the homeowner’s personal belongings were submerged. The customer was in need of immediate assistance in extracting the water, removing the affected materials, and restoring the air quality and cleanliness of the home.

When Northeast Power Dry project manager, Scott Upshaw, arrived at the residence, he immediately began restoring the home. Scott inspected the damage and communicated the full scope of work to the landlord. Technicians immediately installed an air scrubber to filter the air and improve the air quality. The water was extracted from the basement and all affected surfaces were disinfected. Technicians then installed 17 air movers, 1 dehumidifier, and 1 air scrubber to ensure proper drying. After only 3 days, the home was dry, and all equipment was retrieved. The tenant was able to return to a clean and dry house.
